How long it takes to learn SQL depends on your current computer programming knowledge and exactly how much you want to learn. If you already have a career in computer programming or you are skilled in this area, learning the SQL basic could take as little as two to three weeks. However, if you need to take a beginner’s computer programming course prior to learning the SQL language, it could take some additional time. On the other hand, if you plan to take online training in the U.K. where you can work at your own speed and you have plenty of time to learn, you could grasp many of the basic concepts in just a few days.
If, however, you hope to learn more advanced skills, such as those required by computer program developers, you might need a few months before you really grasp enough to start coding on your own. With the increasing risk of SQL injection, it also important that you have a full understanding of the security risks associated with the SQL language, as well as best practices for protecting your data from such attacks. It is vital that you obtain this level of training before putting your SQL skills to use. This will prevent potential problems later.
